What a way to make a stranger's day...

A waitress and a mother of two works in a small restaurant. She always wanted to visit Italy, her dream vacation. But because of monetary problems she couldn't. Fortunately for her, she received $1000 as a tip from a customer and got a chance to fulfill her dream.

Her daughter explained the story, She says..

So my mom and I have been working the same waitress job for 5-6 years now. She had been waitressing years before, but this is recently. Anyway, about... 15 minutes ago this guy she waited on left and told her to take care. Just that. Prior to this she had talked to him about Italy. Her people are from Florence, this and that, and she said she's never been. She got 8 years of art education and she's working a waitress job. It's pretty... sad and disappointing, I guess. Her and my father divorced 6 years ago and she hasn't had a real job ever. Just been stuck in a small town she's not from. This man who we have never seen before tipped her 1,000 dollars for a trip to Italy. Walked out, not another word.

This is how you make someone's day. There's still good people out there, isn't there ?

  3. I saw another story on this and it said that the charge wouldn't go through anyways.

  4. Most restaurants you can't run a tip on a credit card that is greater than the amount of the bill.

  5. Yes That is correct, it will not go through. I can't remember the reason behind it, but some guys at Reddit explained it well. It is a way to to pretty much get a free meal, Even though it is technically theft.

  6. That's sad though. The waitress got all excited about finally going to Italy and now it's like a sick joke from the person who left the "tip".
