Family Dog Helps Parents Expose Their Child's Abusive Babysitter

When the Jordan family moved to Charleston, S.C., with their then 2-month-old son (then), Finn, they hired a 22-year-old babysitter. Fin is now seven-month-old. The child's babysitter, Alexis Khan, a 22-year-old woman, easily cleared a background check and the couple felt she was a 'good fit' at the time. Benjamin and Hope Jordan moved to the area and hired Khan to watch their son. The family believed Alexis Khan with the care of their baby for five months — but their dog, Killian, didn’t. Whenever Khan tried to approach the baby, Killian would start acting protectively and wouldn’t let her near Finn.

The family felt like Alexis was a good fit at the time, but the dog was very protective of Finn when she would come in the door. He was very aggressive towards her and a few times Benjamin actually had to physically restrain the dog from going towards her. But it happened many times and Bejnamin and Hope started to feel that something was wrong. So to know everything, Hope placed an iPhone under the couch and let it record what happens while they were at work.

 Alexis Khan

What they heard was horrifying.

They heard slap noises and Finn's pain cry. She assaulted the baby, then they came to realize that why the dog was uncomfortable. Shortly after that Khan was arrested for child abuse and Killian became a hero. She will spend one to three years behind bars and have to register as a child abuser when she gets out.

Mr Jordan says that without the dog, they may never have found out about the abuse.
